Durdle Door

Planning Your Perfect Dorset Holiday

About Durdle Door

Durdle Door is one of Dorset’s most famous natural landmarks: a magnificent limestone arch rising from the sea on the UNESCO World Heritage Jurassic Coast. Surrounded by sweeping cliffs and clear coastal waters, it offers one of the most memorable views along England’s south coast.

Visitors can admire the arch from the clifftop viewpoint before following the steep path and steps down to Durdle Door Beach. The sheltered bay is a beautiful spot for relaxing, photography and enjoying the coastline, while neighbouring Man O’War Bay can be reached from the same clifftop route.

Durdle Door also lies on the South West Coast Path, making it an excellent starting point for a scenic walk. Follow the undulating coastal trail towards Lulworth Cove for dramatic sea views, or continue west towards White Nothe for a longer and more challenging adventure.

The paths around Durdle Door are steep and can be uneven or slippery, particularly after poor weather. Sturdy footwear is strongly recommended, and visitors with limited mobility should be aware that access to the beach involves a demanding descent and climb.
